Who Wanderlight Is
Heya, I’m Shayna (pronounced SHAY-nuh), though I typically just go by Shay. (:
I’m a Licensed Master-Level Psychologist in Kansas (LMLP #03149), and I earned my master’s in clinical psychology from Emporia State in 2021. I’ve been working in the therapy field for about 4-5 years and creating Wanderlight Teletherapy has been quite the journey.
I became a therapist because I wanted to be the kind of support I needed when I was younger…someone who shows up, listens, and actually understands. Like a lot of people, I’ve been through my own mess of a mental health journey, and it took a long time to understand what the hell was going on in my own brain and what worked for me, so when I say I get it, I truly mean it.
Outside of therapy, I’m incredibly nerdy and passionate about all things fantasy. In my free time, you’ll usually find me sucked into video games, tabletop RPGs (D&D, anyone?), or board games. I love reading, especially anything fantasy, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, or psychology-related. I’ve also been known to dive into dark romance and young adult fiction from time to time, don’t judge! When I’m not gaming or reading, I’m probably hanging out with my demon puppy, going to concerts, staring at the stars, or heading off on a random road trip.
I’m a pretty laid back person, but I won’t hesitate to call you out on your bullshit if I see you getting in your own way. I think therapy should feel safe and real, but it should also challenge you. You don’t have to show up perfect. You just have to show up.
Wanderlight is my way of helping people find their way through the dark. It’s a space to feel seen, supported, and to reconnect with parts of yourself you may have forgotten, and maybe even rediscover a little magic along the way.
